How does one compare a ray of sunshine to a streetlight? You set the bar high enough a thousand lamps won't do It's taking all my strength to keep myself from running back to you Going on a date I can't help feeling out of place Wine and chandeliers don't feel special if you're not here It's taking all my strength to keep myself from running back to you Running back to... I'm fighting the battle of pleasure and pain My memories fight the battle of pleasure and pain the highest mountains and the lowest valleys I thought the sadness had passed but driving home in the dark I had this relapse as the streetlights blur into a haze tonight all I'm beggin' for is the light of your face It's taking all my stregth to keep myself from running back it's taking all my strength to keep myself from running back to you

I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning It was after high school in frosty Minnesota We were in the dorms when we met at the piano Never knew two hearts could open like they did Saw them stretch and bend as we let each other in We started to fly, rollercoaster ride, left our friends behind We were hanging on upside down I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning For years it looked like we had only started dating We couldn't keep our hands off slept in a single bed But you never got the chance to let yourself explore be the single girl you never knew before Saw you slip away, an inch more each day, slow motion earthquake We were hanging on, through the rubble I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning A rope's only as strong as what it's holding onto you were clinging onto me, I was clinging on to you From the outside we looked so strong On the inside we were barely hanging on I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning I'll see ya in the morning

Breathe hard as you request those hands It's nothing but a floor and a dance Hello and goodbye are the hardest Only air holds back this heart attack Breathe hard as you sprint to the cliff at the quarry The pool is black and deep Just the fallen know what lies beneath Only air holds back Only air holds back this heart attack Breathe hard as the mountains roll into plains as a stone skips across a lake and a moment ripples to far off places Only air holds back Only air holds back Only air holds back this heart attack

You caught me like a fish in muddy water blind to the meat I was chasing, racing after I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak though my lips were moving When you love someone it's always the first time hanging on a string Viewing the world from the topside swimming in the breeze You cut me like a badass fisherwoman blind to the meat these drying tears of salt and sand I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak through my lips were moving When you love someone it's always the first time hanging on a string Viewing the world from the topside swimming in the breeze Would rather struggle for air than be thrown back in the water without you Now the scars have faded; again I search for a hook in murky blue I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak though my lips were moving When you love someone it's always the first time hanging on a string Viewing the world from the topside swimming in the breeze

Snow Drifts 01:04
Days accumulate like snow on a window sill even the buried contribute to the scene I'd walk through a blizzard with you Get lost in a blizzard with you

about

Goldfish Diaries, was recorded from October, 2011 through June, 2012. On grassy cliffs, in cozy apartments, and vintage studios, I have had the privilege to work with a cast of friends and musicians who dumbfound me with their talent and character. Watching these heroes of mine focus their concentration and valuable time into songs of mine has been nothing short of a dream come true. Thank you to all of you who shared your creative energies, support, and adventures with me.
